Journal History

Istiqsha: Adnin Journal of Integrative Islamic Inquiry was established in 2025 by the Center for Research and Community Service (LP2M) of the Institut Ilmu Al-Qur’an Jannatu Adnin Kendari, Indonesia. The journal was founded to provide a scholarly platform for integrating Islamic perspectives with contemporary academic inquiry across various disciplines in the humanities, education, and social sciences.

The name “Istiqsha” (Arabic: استقصاء) means thorough inquiry or investigation, reflecting the journal’s mission to promote in-depth reflection and critical dialogue grounded in both faith (īmān) and reason (‘aql). It represents an intellectual effort to bridge revelation and modern scientific thought through integrative, reflective, and ethical scholarship.

The journal launched its first issue in December 2025, beginning as a biannual, peer-reviewed, open-access publication. It adheres to international standards of academic integrity and publication ethics as guided by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

From its inception, Istiqsha has sought to:

  • Encourage research that combines Islamic epistemology with contemporary disciplinary approaches.
  • Foster reflective and cross-disciplinary conversations among scholars, educators, and practitioners.
  • Serve as a forum for advancing integrative Islamic thought and community-based research.

The journal’s tagline, “Exploring Faith and Knowledge Through Integrative Inquiry,” captures its commitment to nurturing academic excellence rooted in Qur’anic wisdom and the pursuit of truth.
