Publication Ethic and Malpractice Statement

1. Introduction
The Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement of Istiqsha: Adnin Journal of Integrative Islamic Inquiry is based on the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). The journal is committed to maintaining the highest ethical standards in scholarly publication. All parties involved in the act of publishing—authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher—are expected to adhere to the following ethical principles.

2. Responsibilities of Editors

  • Ensure fair and impartial review of all submissions, regardless of gender, race, religion, or institutional affiliation of the author(s).
  • Evaluate manuscripts solely based on their academic merit and relevance to the journal’s scope.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all submitted manuscripts and related correspondence.
  • Prevent conflicts of interest in editorial decision-making.
  • Take appropriate action in response to ethical concerns, including plagiarism, data fabrication, or citation manipulation.

3. Responsibilities of Reviewers

  • Provide constructive, unbiased, and timely feedback on the manuscript.
  • Respect the confidentiality of the review process and not use information from the manuscript for personal advantage.
  • Identify relevant published work that has not been cited by the author(s).
  • Inform the editor of any suspected plagiarism, duplication, or ethical misconduct.

4. Responsibilities of Authors

  • Submit only original and unpublished works that are not under consideration elsewhere.
  • Ensure that all data presented are accurate and that sources are properly cited.
  • Acknowledge the contributions of all individuals who significantly participated in the research.
  • Avoid all forms of plagiarism, fabrication, falsification, or redundant publication.

  • Cooperate fully with editors and reviewers during the review process and provide corrections or retractions when necessary.

  • Ensure the journal maintains its editorial independence and integrity.
  • Support editors in investigating and addressing ethical issues related to published content.
  • Ensure transparency in journal operations and maintain high publishing standards.
  • Publish corrections, clarifications, and retractions when necessary to maintain the accuracy and integrity of the scholarly record.

6. Ethical Oversight
Istiqsha promotes ethical oversight in all stages of publication. Research involving human participants or sensitive data must comply with institutional ethical standards. Authors are required to provide statements of informed consent and ethical approval where applicable.

7. Handling of Unethical Behavior
When ethical misconduct such as plagiarism, data falsification, or authorship manipulation is reported, the editorial team will conduct a thorough investigation. If misconduct is confirmed, appropriate action will be taken, which may include manuscript rejection, article retraction, or reporting to the author’s institution.
